Tenova Core Starts up Heat Treat Furnace in New Castle for Outokumpu

Tenova Core recently completed the successful start-up of a walking hearth plate heat treating furnace at Outokumpu’s New Castle, Ind., stainless plant.
Installed as part of a plant upgrade project, the new walking hearth furnace features state-of-the-art low-NOx burners as well as a complete control and automation system that includes an advanced Level 1 tracking system.
Tenova Core also designed and supplied a custom jet air and water mist cooling system that helps to reduce the plate’s temperature after it leaves the furnace.
In North America, Outokumpu Stainless has manufacturing units producing hot rolled plate, bar, and tubular/fittings products. Product line operations are located in New Castle, Ind., which produces hot rolled plate; Wildwood, Fla., which produces pipe and tube; Brockville, Ont., Canada, where fittings products are produced; and Richburg, S.C., where bar products are produced.
