Tenova Commissions New Furnaces for GTS Industries, Salzgitter Flachstahl

Tenova Italimpianti Deutschland GmbH, a company of Tenova LOI Italimpianti, has successfully commissioned two furnaces in June, one in France and the other in Germany.

Tenova designed and installed a pusher furnace for the GTS Industries plate mill in Dunkerque, France. The furnace is designed to heat varying qualities of slabs up to 1250 °C at rates up to 200 tonnes/hour.

The first slab was discharged from the new GTS furnace on June 10th. The furnace reached nearly the nominal throughput within two days of the commissioning, which took place according to the contract schedule.

Tenova also designed and installed a new walking beam furnace for the Salzgitter Flachstahl hot strip mill in Germany. The furnace is designed to heat varying qualities of slabs up to 1280 °C at rates up to 300 tonnes/hour. The first slab was discharged from Salzgitter Flachstahl’s new walking beam furnace on June 26th. Commissioned one week earlier than scheduled, the new furnace is already running at higher production loads, in parallel with two other Tenova furnaces in three-shift operation and in automatic mode.
