Tenova and Coolbrook Partner to Produce Green Technology

According to a press release, the aim of the partnership is to develop joint solutions using both companies’ technologies to provide distinctive, seamless and comprehensive offerings for industrial customers. Their first focus will be the integration of Coolbrook’s RDH technology into Tenova’s proprietary technology for acid regeneration plants.

“By integrating our RDH technology with Tenova’s innovative solutions, we can develop joint offerings to decarbonize highly challenging applications that have previously been impossible to electrify,” said Joonas Rauramo, chief executive officer of Coolbrook.

Coolbrook estimates RDH technology could cut over 2.4 billion tons of CO2 emissions annually when deployed at scale. Pilot tests have shown that its heat generating capabilities exceed 1,000°C and have reached up to 1,700°C.

Coolbrook said they aim to establish RDH technology as an industry standard by 2030.

“Through this partnership, we are positioned to deliver broader, more sophisticated solutions to our customers than either company could achieve independently,” said Rauramo.

The companies said once their first focus is completed, they plan to expand their collaboration to other applications throughout the metals industry.
