TenarisDalmine Lowers Emissions Through Expansion of Large-Diameter Line

According to Tenaris, the mill will be capable of producing larger diameters, up to 18 5/8 inches (473 mm).

Prior to the expansion, larger-diameter pipes underwent a secondary rolling process in an expander mill. Now the process can be completed entirely within the medium-size hot rolling mill, thereby lowering natural gas and electricity consumption.

The streamlined production process will reduce the facility’s CO2 emissions by 7,000 metric tons per year.

“This investment consolidates Dalmine’s position as leader in the production of large-diameter seamless pipes for complex applications, while improving sustainability of the manufacturing process, increasing capacity and reducing production lead-times,” said Michele Della Briotta, Tenaris president of Europe.

Tenaris said that through this investment, it can now produce oil country tubular goods, line pipe, gas cylinders and large vessels in the larger diameter sizes.
