Tenaris Provides Heavy Wall Line Pipe for Project in Gulf of Mexico
07/30/2013 - Tenaris is supplying offshore line pipe for Exxon Mobil’s Julia Project, located 7,000 feet under the Gulf of Mexico.
Products, including 10.75-inch diameter X65QO pipes in wall thicknesses of 35 mm and 42 mm, will be used for flowlines, risers, jumpers and flowline end terminations.
Heavy and ultra-heavy wall line pipes are one of the special products that Tenaris is developing and producing to complete its offer for deepwater projects. These products are used in a number of line pipe projects involving risers, high-pressure/high-temperature (HP/HT) applications and extreme environments.
“Tenaris is now working on heavy wall pipes from 1.378 inches (35 mm) up to 2.165inches (55 mm), in almost all our projects,” says Philippe Darcis, Tenaris line pipe product engineering manager. “The multistand pipe mill and expander mill at Tenaris's plant in Italy have the capability to manufacture these products in an outside diameter range from 10.75 inches (273.1 mm) up to 20 inches (508 mm)."
