Tenaris Mill in Italy Receives DNV GL Certification

The certifications, which were the result of more than a year of inspection and testing, mean that the mill is authorized to produce structural tubes according to ABS grades as well as DNV GL’s OS-B101 standards for steel used in offshore structures and equipment.

DNV GL, formed by the 2013 merger of Det Norske Veritas and Germanischer Lloyd, is a leading advisor in the oil and gas sector, setting industry-wide technical standards and ensuring compliance with those standards.

Tenaris’s mill in Dalmine produces high-strength quenched and tempered seamless structural pipes, usually used in jack-ups and seajack vessels. The recent certifications set the mill apart from competitors and make it a leader in complying with the industry’s highest standards.

“In a highly competitive market, it’s an advantage to guarantee the quality of our products by meeting the rigorous standards of classification societies such as DNV GL and ABS,” said Alessandro Giacobbe, Tenaris’s structural pipe product manager at the Dalmine facility. “Particularly in the North European market, the DNV GL certification sets us apart in the maritime field and especially in wind farm applications.”
