Tenaris Facility in Canada Reaches Four-Year Safety Milestone
10/01/2014 - In August 2014, employees at Tenaris’s threading facility in Nisku marked an important achievement by reaching four years without a lost-time accident.
This achievement demonstrates Tenaris’s commitment to the safety of all its employees. “To reach four years without a lost-time accident takes effort each and every day at all levels,” said Cameron Huxley, health and safety analyst at the Nisku facility. “I really appreciate the work the supervisors have done in making safety a priority, engaging their crews with their daily pre-shift meetings that places attention immediately on safety before the shift begins. The workers on the floor and in the yard have worked to improve reporting that helps identify issues that may become accidents in the future, giving us the opportunity to make repairs, modifications and improvements to the system as our work and facility continues to evolve.”
For health and safety regional coordinator Michael Boisvenue, the four-year milestone stands out in the industry. “This is exactly what we all strive for,” he said. “This is a very unique accomplishment for a manufacturing environment and everyone did an excellent job and should be very proud of reaching this milestone.”
“Nisku continues to show us that with effort and commitment, we can continue moving safety forward every year,” added Chris Galizia, HSE manager for Canada.
