Tenaris Cuts the Ribbon on New Service Center
07/12/2016 - Tenaris ceremonially opened its first service center in Thailand on Tuesday, marking the start of operations at a facility meant to support Chevron’s offshore production.
Based at the harbor city of Songkhla, which is along the Gulf of Thailand, the facility is expected to handle 80,000 tons of chrome and carbon casing and tubing annually. It also will provide Tenaris’ premium TenarisHydril connections.
“The Tenaris facility in Songkhla will play an important role in supporting Chevron’s operations in the Gulf of Thailand and bring jobs and training opportunities for the local people in the province,” said Brad Middleton, managing director for Chevron’s Asia South region, in a statement.
Tenaris chairman and chief executive Paolo Rocco said the service center is unique in that it was outfitted with technology allowing each tube to be identified and traced and was designed with health and safety and the environment as top priorities.
Tenaris said the service center will supply more than tube – it also will provide pipe management services to Chevron. Those services include demand planning and inventory management, pipe identification and net invoicing, Tenaris said.
