Tenaris and Zalau City Hall Partner to Open Laboratory in Technical School

Silcotub, Tenaris’s mill in Romania, in partnership with Zalau City Hall inaugurated a modern laboratory of pneumatics and hydraulics with state-of-the-art equipment in the “Mihai Viteazul” technical high school in Salaj County, Romania.
Zalau City Hall invested approximately US$17,000 to revamp and arrange the space that hosts the laboratory and Silcotub contributed more than $270,000, covering the value of its endowment equipment and teacher training. The laboratory is equipped with seven computers that will be used for virtual simulation, performing circuits and checking their functionality through dedicated programs.
Representatives from Silcotub, students and teachers from the school, local authorities and representatives from the Salaj County School Inspectorate and the Ministry of National Education attended the event.
Radu Căpîlnașiu, the Mayor of Zalau, said, “Silcotub is one of the best examples of how a company understands the importance of supporting the community through collaboration with local authorities. The company is considering not only the wellbeing of its employees but also that of the community in which it operates, and this is confirmed by the significant investment made in the high school.”
“Through this investment, Silcotub supports the development of technical education in Salaj, contributing to shape future generations of industry specialists, society’s motor for development. This lab allows students to gain practical experience and understand technological processes, better preparing them for the job market’s requirements,” said Gabriel Podskubka, Tenaris Eastern Europe Area Manager at the event.
Gigel Paraschiv, State Education Secretary, awarded Silcotub, on behalf of the Education Minister, a plaque for the contribution made to the development of technical education and for supporting and recognizing excellence in education.
