Tejas Tubular Products Leaders Honored
11/24/2014 - The Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (HHCC) honored Maximo A. Tejeda, president and CEO of Tejas Tubular Products Inc. with the Male Hispanic Entrepreneur of the Year award at its annual gala on Saturday, 1 November 2014. Tejeda received this prestigious award for his outstanding contributions to the Houston business community.
In his Chamber interview Tejeda said, "The importance of the oil and gas industry in Houston should be emphasized in our business community. I should also stress that Hispanic entrepreneurs in the Houston area must vigorously pursue their business ideas and ideals to increase economic growth, jobs and wealth for our community. In addition," said Tejeda. "I am completely humbled by this experience and would like to thank the Tejas Tubular Team for making this possible. I feel that Tejas must follow a path of continuous improvement to help create long-term American energy security. Creating American jobs is the number one goal for our company -- it is the best way to strengthen our domestic economy and help secure a US leadership position in the world market."
The Awards Gala, held on 1 November was attended by an estimated 1,200 guests and took place at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. The Chamber took this opportunity to present the 2014 Graduating Class of the Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI). Shawn Portales, external affairs manager at Tejas Tubular and graduate of the 2014 ELI, was recognized by the HHCC as an emerging Leader at this year's gala.
The Emerging Leaders Institute of the Greater Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation identifies, develops and empowers juniors and seniors from area universities and young professionals in their leadership training program.
