Techint Goodfellow to Install EFSOP System at SMI Meltshop

Structural Metals, Inc. (SMI Texas) has placed an order with Techint Goodfellow Technologies Inc. (TGTI), Mississauga, Ont., for a state-of-the-art Goodfellow EFSOP (Expert Furnace System Optimization Process) system. Techint Goodfellow Technologies will install and commission the system on SMI’s 120-ton EAF at their meltshop in Seguin, Texas.

SMI’s new Goodfellow EFSOP system will measure and analyze EAF off-gases continuously at the fourth hole for real-time closed-loop process control. It is a clean technology which provides environmental and economic benefit to steel production. Techint Goodfellow says the technology will also result in improved operations, energy savings, lower conversion costs and safety benefits.

This represents the fifth Goodfellow EFSOP installation in the U.S.A. market.
