Techint Goodfellow to Install EFSOP on Ternium Hylsa Finger Shaft EAF

Oct. 2006 — Techint Goodfellow Technologies Inc. (TGTI) has received an order from Ternium Hylsa to install a Goodfellow EFSOP system at the Monterrey, Mexico, plant.

The system will be installed in a scrap preheating finger shaft furnace which operates with scrap and continuous DRI pellet meltdown conditions.

The new EFSOP system will incorporate continuous off-gas based closed-loop process control of the EAF. It will continuously measure and analyze EAF off-gases (CO, CO2, H2, and O2) at the fourth hole for real-time closed-loop process control of EAF steelmaking. Techint Goodfellow Technologies says the new system will result in improved operations, energy savings, lower conversion costs and safety benefits.

This represents the first EFSOP system to be installed in an EAF furnace with continuously fed DRI.
