Tata Steel Reports Increased Sales, Production Volumes for May 2009
06/08/2009 - Tata Steel reports significant increases in hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel production for the month of May as compared to May 2008.
Tata Steel reported significant increases in hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel production for the month of May as compared to May 2008.
The company produced 528,000 tonnes of hot metal and 486,000 tonnes of crude steel in May, a 19% increase in hot metal and a 17% increase in crude steel production vs. May 2008.
Tata Steel also produced 501,000 tonnes of saleable steel in May, a 23% increase over the 408,000 tonnes of saleable steel produced in May 2008. Comparing May 2009 to May 2008, the company also recorded a 34% increase in long product sales, and a 9% increase in flat product sales.
The company said that its LD No. 1 in Jamshedpur also recorded its best May production of 218,533 tonnes, which compares to a previous best of 147,711 tonnes in May 2006.
Tata Steel’s Merchant Mill recorded its best May production of 30,710 tonnes, which compares to a previous best production of 28,505 tonnes in May 2007. Its Hot Strip Mill recorded its best May production of 2,88,486 tonnes, compared to a previous best production of 2,70,372 tonnes in May 2008.
The company’s new Bar Mill recorded its best May production of 51,882 tonnes, which compares to a previous best production of 50,058 tonnes in May 2007.
