Tata Steel Reports FY’10 Annual Production and Sales Figures
04/16/2010 - Tata Steel completed fiscal year 2010 (April-March) with a 16% increase in hot metal and crude steel production, a 20% increase in saleable steel production, and an 18% increase in sales compared to the prior fiscal year.
Tata Steel completed fiscal year 2010 (April-March) with a 16% increase in hot metal and crude steel production, a 20% increase in saleable steel production, and an 18% increase in sales compared to the prior fiscal year.
The company reported best-ever production for hot metal (7,231,000 tonnes), crude steel (6,564,000 tonnes), and saleable steel (6,439,000 tonnes).
Some other “best-ever” annual production figures include:
· H blast furnace = 3.07 million tonnes (22% higher than designed capacity of 2.5 million tonnes).
· G blast furnace = 2.08 million tonnes
· Hot strip mill = 3.65 million tonnes
· Cold rolling mill = 1.563 million tonnes
· New bar mill = 672,000 tonnes
· Wire rod mill = 419,000 tonnes
· Merchant mill = 341,000 tonnes.
Overall sales of 6,170,000 tonnes compare favorably to last fiscal year’s 5,232,000 tonnes. This includes a 34% increase in long products sales at 2,697,000 tonnes (vs. 2,006,000 tonnes in FY’09) and an 8% increase in flat products sales at 3,473,000 tonnes (compared to 3,226,000 tonnes in FY’09).
