Tata Steel Reports 21% Increase in Q2 Crude Steel Production

Tata Steel reported increases in its hot metal, crude steel, and saleable steel production in Q2 FY 2010 compared to the corresponding period of last year.
 
The company produced 1,795,000 tonnes of hot metal and 1,640,000 tonnes of crude steel in Q2 FY‘10, both 21% increases vs. the same period last year.
 
Tata Steel also produced 1,519,000 tonnes of saleable steel, up 14% from Q2 FY’09, and recorded sales of 1,456,000 tonnes, a 19% increase.
 
Similar increases were registered for the first half of FY'10: hot metal and crude steel production, as well as sales, were all up 21% vs. H1 FY’09. Saleable steel production increased by 22% for H1 FY’10.
 
Another H1 FY'10 highlight was a 49% increase in long product sales over the corresponding period last year.
