Tata Steel Netherlands, Lindab Sign Green Steel MOU
10/09/2024 - Tata Steel Netherlands has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Swedish company Lindab to supply the company with green steel as soon as it switches to hydrogen-based production.
"Lindab strives to contribute to a better global climate. To be successful in this mission, we need to work with the right partners to minimize the impact in our supply chain. We see Tata Steel as such a partner, and we are formalizing that with this agreement in principle," said Matilda Isaksson, group sustainability manager at Lindab.
Lindab develops and manufactures sustainable ventilation systems.
According to Lindab, about 80% to 95% of the environmental impacts of Lindab's products and about 50% percent of Lindab's total emissions come from steel.
“With the purchase of high-quality, green steel from Tata Steel, Lindab is opting for the purchase of steel that will be produced even cleaner and more environmentally friendly in the future,” said Tata Steel Netherlands commercial business unit director Stefan Landesz.
