Tata Steel Mothballs Galvanizing Line at Welsh Mill
09/28/2015 - Tata Steel is idling one of two hot-dipped galvanizing lines at its coil coatings mill in Shotton, North Wales, according to the Daily Post newspaper.
The newspaper said the move could affect up to 40 jobs. Tata intends to restart the line when more favorable market conditions return, it said.
“We continue to be in discussions with employees, their representatives and the employers of contractors and agency staff about possible implications for employment levels,” a spokesman told the newspaper.
"Every effort will be made to redeploy any affected employees within the business.”
The Shotton mill is home to Tata Steel Colors, which makes pre-finished steel for the building envelope, domestic appliances and manufactured goods markets.
