Talley Metals Increases Stainless Prices

May 4, 2004 — Talley Metals is increasing the price for all grades of stainless steel round bars, hexagons, and squares approximately 3 to 5 percent, effective with new orders and shipments May 3.

Despite recent price increases, Talley Metals said that many of their products' prices still do not adequately reflect the significant increases for energy, manufacturing supplies and labor related costs incurred during the last year.

Talley Metals, a subsidiary of Carpenter Technology Corp., sells 300- and 400-series stainless steels, as well as standard precipitation-hardening grades, to U.S. metals distributors. Carpenter Technology, based in Wyomissing, Pa., is a leading manufacturer and distributor of specialty alloys and various engineered products.
