Swiss Steelmaker Taps AMI Automation for Electrode Regulation System
09/26/2022 - Stahl Gerlafingen contracted AMI Automation to upgrade the electrode regulation system (ERS) for its secondary steelmaking process, which the equipment supplier completed earlier this year.
AMI Automation supplied the DigitARC® PX3 ERS for Stahl Gerlafingen’s 80-ton 11-MVA ladle furnace. According to AMI, the interface includes a set of “powerful diagnostic tools and configurable screens to control almost every aspect of the furnace.”
The upgrade is meant to reduce electrode consumption, increase the heating rate and decrease ladle refractory wear.
