According to Danieli, the K-Weld machine and 2-MW Danieli Automation Q-Heat system will allow the rolling mill at Stahl Gerlafingen to run in endless mode. Danieli said the furnace will be set after the welder, correcting for the temperature drop caused by the welding process before it enters the roughing mill. 

Danieli said the welder features a tension control system that speeds up joint welding, leading to enhanced mechanical characteristics of the joint itself and the rolled stock.

Welder start-up is set for the first quarter of 2024, Danieli said.
