Superior Tube Secures AS9100 Certification
09/30/2014 - Superior Tube, a manufacturer of precision tubing for the aerospace industry and other safety critical applications, announced that it is now certified to AS9100, having been successfully assessed by the independent certification organization, Det Norske Veritas.
Based on the ISO 9001 series of quality management systems, AS9100 was introduced to provide a globally harmonized standard specifically for the aerospace industry. By establishing recognized procedures and controls and promoting a culture of continuous improvement, AS9100 helps to reduce and prevent errors, leading to significant cost reductions across the entire supply chain, including design, manufacture, maintenance and distribution.
Deborah Kamertz, Superior Tube’s quality systems manager, commented: “Gaining AS9100 certification is an important step for Superior Tube and a tribute to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the certification process.”
Kevin Heaphy, global director, product management & commercial systems, added: “By reinforcing stakeholder trust in the company, AS 9100 will help us take advantage of new business opportunities internationally as well as supporting our strategic expansion in key aerospace segments.”
Superior Tube is a global leader in the manufacture of precision tubing. From aerospace to power stations, and oil and gas extraction to medicine, its products are used in a range of industries. Based in Collegeville, Pa., the company’s manufacturing capabilities include seamless and welded tubes, straight lengths or coils, in stainless steel, nickel, titanium and zirconium.
Since its founding in 1934, Superior Tube, its customers and products have been directly involved in several historic firsts in science and engineering, from the world's first nuclear powered vessel, the USS Nautilus, to the X-1 in which Chuck Yeager became the first man to break the sound barrier, to NASA’s Apollo Program which put the first man on the moon.
