Sumitomo Metals Dissolves its Engineering Company

Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd. has announced plans to dissolve its Engineering Company, as of July 1, 2009. The change is part of the company’s ongoing organizational reform.
 
The Engineering Company, one of Sumitomo’s in-house companies, employs technology and experience gained in the steel business to develop operations centered on infrastructure projects such as bridge construction and systems buildings. Its main products include steel bridges as well as segment and systems buildings, and related products.
 
As part of the change, Sumitomo said that it will transfer the Engineering Company’s bridge business to Sumikin Bridge Center, Co., Ltd. To accommodate the transfer, Sumikin Bridge Center will change its corporate name to Sumikin Bridge Co., Ltd.
