Success: HKM Completes First Stage of New MES Implementation
12/13/2024 - Germany’s Huttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann has completed the first of seven go-live implementations of its new manufacturing execution software.
According to the software’s publisher, PSI Group, the new system includes PSImetals modules governing planning, production and quality.
PSI said the modules will integrate with SAP and HKM’s legacy Finishing-Line Tracking System and ensure on-time delivery of customer orders. They will also replace an outdated COBOL system and act as the central hub for sampling and scheduling, streamlining operations and simplifying digital infrastructure.
PSImetals said that through the implementation, new modules will run in parallel with legacy systems, allowing the new systems to be tested and validated before they become operational.
“The PSImetals Virtual Factory simulations allowed us to preview the implementation using a steel plant data similar to ours. No other vendor could (demonstrate) this level of requirement fulfillment. With these, we knew that PSI was the perfect partner for the project,” said Frank Raschewski, business sponsor at HKM.
HKM is a subsidiary of thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG, Salzgitter Mannesmann GmbH, and Vallourec Tubes S.A.S.
