Stelco Inc. was granted an Order of the Superior Court of Justice (Ontario) extending the stay period under its Court-supervised restructuring until December 12, 2005.
The Court also directed that the previously-adjourned meetings of affected creditors will resume on December 9, 2005. The meetings are being conducted for the purpose of considering and voting on the restructuring plan announced on December 5, 2005 (with or without amendment).
Courtney Pratt, Stelco President and CEO, said, "We'll do everything we can to achieve an agreement among stakeholder groups by the time of Friday's vote. We believe that a creditor-supported plan receiving a positive vote is much better for all concerned than the alternatives if the plan is defeated.
