According to Stelco, Scherzer has nearly 25 years of metals and mining investment banking experience with significant focus on the steel industry. He joins the Stelco team from U.S. investment group BNP Paribas, where he served as head of North American Industrial Materials and Services Investment Banking. 

Prior to that, Scherzer spent 17 years at Credit Suisse, finishing as managing director and head of Americas Metals & Mining.
