Stelco Appoints Chief Operating Officer
Jan. 14, 2004 — Courtney Pratt, Stelco Inc. President and CEO, announced the appointment of Mr. Colin Osborne to the position of Chief Operating Officer. The appointment takes effect immediately.
In his role as Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Osborne will be responsible for Stelco's Integrated Business located in Hamilton and Nanticoke, Ont. He will also retain his current title and responsibilities as Executive Vice President—Strategy.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Pratt said, "I am very pleased to make this appointment. Colin has held senior operating and general management positions at a number of the company's business units, and as such, brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to this important position. His continuing responsibility for the company's strategic activities complements what he will be doing in respect to these integrated operations. Colin will be reporting to me in both of these important roles."
Stelco Inc., Canada's largest and most diversified steel producer, is involved in all major segments of the steel industry through its integrated steel business, minimills, and manufactured products businesses. Stelco has a presence in six Canadian provinces and two states of the United States. Consolidated net sales in 2002 were $2.8 billion.
