Steelmaker Signs Off On Furnace Upgrades
08/10/2015 - Vietnamese billet manufacturer DNSTEEL has signed a final acceptance certificate for a new electrode regulating system, Danieli Automation has announced.
According to the announcement, Danieli’s HiREG™ control system was installed in the plant's existing electric arc furnace. The new system is meant to reduce electricity consumption and prolong the life of electrodes. Another project goal is to establish safer operating conditions, Danieli said.
Danieli said the system, which replaces an older one, was supplied as a package that included a switchboard and integrated monitor. Danieli said the interface with the furnace control system was outfitted with a dedicated remote input-and-output panel.
“Thanks to the advanced features, the new (HiREG system) has provided remarkable results since the first heats, establishing consistent energy savings of more than 6 percent while reducing the electrode consumption by 9 percent," the company said in a statement.
