Steelmaker Places Order for Unmanned Crane System
07/23/2018 - POSCO ICT, the IT and engineering subsidiary of South Korean steelmaker POSCO, has signed an agreement to supply an autonomous crane system to a Chinese steel plant.
In a statement, POSCO ICT said the unmanned system will support operations at Shougang Jingtang United Iron and Steel’s hot rolling and casting shops.
“After the project is completed, Shougang Jingtang United Iron and Steel is expected to achieve unattended/automated logistic system operation. By collecting and analyzing lots of data from the site of production/logistics and making predictions, they will be able to secure the basis for evolving to the smart factory that can control facilities automatically,” the company said.
