Steel Technologies Expands Footprint, Announces New Tennessee Facility
03/31/2016 - Flat rolled processor Steel Technologies LLC plans to invest US$18 million in a new facility housing a slitting line and a 1,000-ton blanking press, the company has announced.
The 83,000-square-foot facility is to be built in Smyrna, Tenn., USA, the company said.
“This new greenfield operation expands our exposed and unexposed automotive slitting and blanking capabilities,” said Randall Patterson, Steel Technologies’ vice president of operations, in a statement. “The facility will handle both steel and aluminum as we continue to deliver greater value and services to our strategic customers in the area.”
Construction is to begin this summer and is to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2017.
Headquartered in Louisville, Ky., USA, Steel Technologies is a joint venture of Mitsui & Co. Ltd. and Nucor Corp.
