Steel Safety Day 2015 – Lock Safety In!

In the lead-up to the Steel Safety Day, many steel producers and related organisations worldwide have proactively participated in worldsteel’s safety initiatives, sharing information and guidelines on safety practices and reinforcing the importance of a safe working environment. Many of them have carried out safety audits at various steel sites, identifying areas for improvement and setting up action plans to prevent the identified risks, making the industry a safer place to work.

Commenting on this year’s safety audits, Edwin Basson, Director General of worldsteel, said, ‘We are very pleased with the high level of support and engagement from the industry worldwide on this crucial event. The safety and health of our people is our core value. This safety initiative is a continuous process for improvement and we plan to repeat it every year with the goal of zero incidents.’

The World Steel Association will be sharing the outcome of the audits later. In the meantime, they are sharing photos of safety audits carried out at various steel sites around the world.
