Steel Manufacturers Association Announces Keith Busse as Chairman
Feb. 12, 2004 — The Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA) Board of Directors announced the election of Keith Busse as Chairman of the SMA. He will succeed Phillip E. Casey, President and CEO, Gerdau Ameristeel, who concluded his two-year term today.
Mr. Busse is President and Chief Executive Officer of Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) headquartered in Fort Wayne, Ind. Mr. Busse headed up the team that established Steel Dynamics Inc. in 1993. He holds an accounting degree from International Business College and a bachelor’s in business finance from the University of Saint Francis, and a master of business administration at Indiana University. Prior to founding SDI, he worked for Nucor Corp. for 21 years, rising from Division Controller to General Manager, and then ultimately becoming Vice President and General Manager of the Nucor Steel Division at Crawfordsville, Ind. At Nucor, Mr. Busse led the team that built and operated the world’s first minimill using thin-slab-casting steel-making technology.
