Steel Institute Hails Letter from Senators on OCTG Trade Case

Thomas J. Gibson, president and CEO of AISI, said, "In the case brought by the pipe and tube makers, the Department of Commerce failed to recognize and address the injurious dumping of OCTG by Korea and other producers. In part, this appears to be due to the government’s failure to take into account all of the information supplied by the domestic industry prior to issuing the preliminary determination. The steel industry applauds the action by the majority of senators today to urge the president and his administration to stand up and take notice, and to fully consider the industry’s allegations and the facts in the case. The U.S. government must aggressively and strictly enforce our trade laws to ensure that relief is provided to steelmakers and the nearly one million workers directly or indirectly supported by the steel industry."
