Steel Dynamics Recognized by U.S. EPA
10/30/2024 - Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) has received a ranking from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Green Power Partnership after recently joining the program, the company has said.
According to SDI, the company landed a spot on the EPA’s national top 100 of the largest green power users enrolled in the program.
"We are proud to be recognized by the U.S. EPA for our use of green power," said Jeff Hansen, SDI vice president for environmental sustainability. "By making the choice to use renewable power in our energy mix, we are reducing our emissions footprint, while also supporting the build-out of the renewable power market and development of those resources."
In 2023, SDI’s mills purchased 690 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power, enough to meet 10% of electricity demand from mill operations. In doing so, SDI achieved its 2025 renewable electrical energy goal, it said.
