Steel Dynamics Orders Danieli Spooler Line
08/17/2017 - Danieli has won a contract to install spooled bar equipment at Steel Dynamics Inc.’s Columbia City, Ind., USA, structural and rail mill.
Under the contract, Danieli will install a billet welder and spooler capable of making spools in weights up to 5.5 tons. The equipment is designed to process 240,000 tons annually of No. 3 to No. 8 rebar and smooth rounds in diameters of 3/8 inches to 1 1/16 inches.
“Twist-free spooled coils add value to final products because they do not require uncoiling and recoiling operations before downstream processing,” Danieli said in a statement.
Steel Dynamics in July announced that it was adding a US$75 million rebar line to the mill to take advantage of excess melting and casting capability and to expand its offerings.
