Steel Companies Look to Buy Italian Steel Works
05/09/2016 - Italian steel processor Marcegaglia Group and ArcelorMittal have made an offer for the Ilva mill, Italy’s largest steel works, reports the Reuters new agency.
"We have made our offer, and now we are in discussions," said Marcegaglia chief executive Emma Marcegaglia said from the sidelines of an event in Milan, according to Reuters.
Last week, Italian news agency ANSA reported that state-controlled investment bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti was meeting with companies interested in helping it save the facility.
The Italian government put the plant on the sales block in January, setting a 30 June 2016 for completing a sale.
