Stainless Producer Signs FAC on New Bar Mill
08/15/2024 - Yantai Walsin Stainless Steel has issued the final acceptance certificate for a stainless steel combination bar and rod mill built by a consortium that includes Primetals Technologies.
According to Primetals Technologies, the mill is able to produce 420,000 metric tons per year of stainless steel and nickel alloy products. It is intended to meet demand for high-quality stainless steel products in China, allowing it to produce products with tighter tolerances and improved surface qualities.
Primetals Technologies said the mill has three outlets: a straight bar outlet for diameters ranging from 40 mm to 130 mm, a bar-in-coil outlet for 18-mm to 40-mm bar, and a wire rod outlet for diameters from 5.5 mm to 18 mm.
“The mill train features a next-generation breakdown mill, induction heating system, roughing and intermediate mill with no-housing stands which feed a cooling bed equipped with abrasive saws, slow bin cooling, bundle-forming stations and in-line bar straightening,” Primetals Technologies said.
