SSAB Veteran to Head European Division
12/17/2024 - SSAB has promoted its European division’s head of business development to the helm of the unit.
Effective 1 February 2025, Tony Harris will take over as head of SSAB Europe, which consists of strip, plate and tube operations in the Nordic region.
“Tony has played a crucial role in driving SSAB Europe’s progress, demonstrating a deep understanding of our company’s operations and culture,” said Johnny Sjöström, SSAB president and chief executive officer.“His extensive market knowledge and commitment to international customers will be vital, as we continue our journey towards fossil-free steel production.”
Harris joined SSAB Europe in 2014 following its merger with Rautaruuki. Harris has since served on its management team. Once Harris assumes his new role, he will also join SSAB’s group executive committee.
SSAB said that with both sales and business development expertise and operations and general management experience, Harris has a strong commercial background. He has worked with both small and medium-sized enterprises and multinational corporations, the company said.
Harris’ succeeds Olavi Huhtala, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
