SSAB Reduces Group Executive Committee
03/19/2025 - SSAB announced its group executive committee will be reduced from 11 to 9 members, reducing three members’ roles while promoting another.
“I’m making these changes to create a smaller and more efficient team. Our focus will be on further strengthening the business, improving the product mix and transforming our Nordic production system,” said president and chief executive officer of SSAB Johnny Sjöström.
According to a press release, newly appointed executive vice president and chief technology officer with responsibility for the transformation office, Carl Orrling, will join the group executive committee. His predecessor, Martin Pei, will become a senior advisor focusing on getting raw material supplies for new green steel plants. Pei will continue as chairman of the board of Hybrit development AB and report to Sjöström.
Among the reductions to the committee will be Christina Friborg, senior vice president, ethics and compliance, health and safety; Eva Petursson, senior vice president research and innovation; and Lars Sjöbring, senior vice president and general counsel. While they will no longer be members of the group executive committee, they will keep their responsibilities and continue to report to Sjöström.
The company said the changes will take effect 1 April 2025.
