Spanish Steelmaker Turns to MORE for Automated EAF Solution
07/06/2018 - Italian electric arc furnace equipment maker MORE has received orders for two of its automatic taphole filling and inspection systems.
In a statement, MORE said the orders are from Spanish steelmaker CELSA Barcelona, which will install the systems on its 150-ton EAFs.
“The EBT SAND system has been developed to increase to operators’ safety, avoiding manual operations from the top of the sump panel of the EBT taphole after tapping,” the company said.
“A high-resolution camera is installed on the equipment to inspect the EBT taphole directly from the control desk and manage the sand charging or cleaning operation remotely.”
The systems are to be up and running by the fourth quarter of this year.
