SMS Wraps Up Project on German EAF
12/05/2016 - SMS group has completed upgrades to an electric arc furnace at Germany’s Georgsmarienhütte GmbH, the equipment manufacturer has announced.
The project focused on the positioning of the DC furnace’s pin-type bottom electrode. The idea was to shift the hot spot and weaken it, improving the refractory lining’s service life and increasing productivity while lowering operating costs.
The work took place during a maintenance outage this summer, SMS said.
