Nakornthai Strip Mill Public Co. Ltd. (NSM), Thailand, has awarded SMS Demag AG, Germany, an order for construction of a hot-dip galvanizing line, push-pull pickling line, and related acid treatment plant.

The facility will produce strips at a maximum width of 1,600 mm and process speeds of up to 200 meters per minute. This new line will enable NSM to expand its range of services on the flat-rolled products market.

The push-pull pickling line includes equipment for joining the strips and for stretch-leveling. The new line will also feature SMS Demag’s turbulence pickling line technology. The process speed can be a maximum of 180 meters per minute with an acid throughput of up to 4,300 liters per hour.

The reactor is designed for optimum flow and thermodynamic conditions, with great importance being placed on minimized environmental impact due to waste-water and exhaust-air flows.

Commissioning will take place in mid-2005.
