SMS Siemag to Supply Converter, Relining Device to Salzgitter Flachstahl
03/30/2012 - Salzgitter Flachstahl awarded SMS Siemag a contract to supply a new converter vessel for Converter A in the Salzgitter steelmaking plant. It also ordered a new relining device with telescopic lifting system to make refractory lining jobs easier in the future.
Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH, Germany, awarded SMS Siemag a contract to supply a new converter vessel for Converter A in the Salzgitter steelmaking plant. The specific converter volume will be increased by about 15%.
Salzgitter Flachstahl also ordered a new relining device with telescopic lifting system to make refractory lining jobs easier in the future. This system, developed by SMS Siemag, will be prepared for the envisaged use of a robot.
SMS Siemag’s scope of supply includes the converter vessel, the trunnion ring with drive, the vessel suspension system with lamella plates, as well as the trunnion bearings and bearing supports.
Commissioning is scheduled for summer 2013.
