SMS Siemag Commissions Slab Caster for Bhushan Steel
08/08/2011 - SMS Siemag, Germany, has successfully commissioned a single-strand continuous slab caster for Bhushan Steel Ltd. at its Angul, Orissa, location.
SMS Siemag, Germany, has successfully commissioned a single-strand continuous slab caster for Bhushan Steel Ltd. at its Angul, Orissa, location. The caster will be used for the production of 1300 mm wide slabs.
SMS Siemag’s scope of supply for the vertical bending machine comprised plant, process and automation engineering and equipment. This included the mold with resonance oscillation and model for optimized oscillation aimed at improving the surface quality of the strand, as well as the entire strand guide system. SMS Siemag also provided all of the casting floor and removal equipment items, the X-Pact® electrical and automation package, and supervision of erection and commissioning.
On executing the first cast, 70 tonnes of liquid steel were cast and the first three slabs were produced in peritectic grades for tube manufacture.
