SMS Mevac to Supply Twin Ladle Furnace for China Steel
08/17/2011 - China Steel Corp., located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has commissioned SMS Mevac, Germany, to supply a 270-tonne twin ladle furnace for its No. 2 BOF Steelmaking Plant.
China Steel Corp., located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has commissioned SMS Mevac, Germany, to supply a 270-tonne twin ladle furnace.
The new twin ladle furnace will have an annual capacity of 1.94 million tonnes. It is intended for the No. 2 BOF steelmaking plant. The total annual capacity of BOF steelmaking plants Nos. 1 and 2 amounts to some 10 million tonnes.
SMS Mevac’s scope for the new ladle furnace comprises engineering, supply, supervision of installation and commissioning as well as training.
China Steel is currently operating five RH plants (plus one that is currently being delivered by SMS Mevac) as well as one ladle furnace for liquid steel treatment. All units were supplied and/or revamped by SMS Mevac.
Commissioning of the new ladle furnace is scheduled for March 2013.
