SMS Meer to Upgrade Firth Rixon Ring Rolling Machine
08/21/2007 - SMS Meer will modernize radial-axial ring rolling machine for Firth Rixon, including a new hydraulic system and modernization of the control system.
Firth Rixon Inc., Monroe Forgings, N.Y., has placed an order with SMS Meer to modernize its RAW 125(140)/100-1850/360 radial-axial ring rolling machine at the company’s Rochester Works.
The revamp will include the installation of a new hydraulic system and modernization of the complete control system.
In addition to the radial-axial ring rolling machine supplied in 1986, Firth Rixon Monroe also operates a RICA 200-1000/460 E vertical ring rolling machine that was also supplied by SMS Meer’s Wagner Banning Ring Rolling product unit in 2002.
Firth Rixon Monroe primarily supplies the aircraft industry with high quality rings made from nickel-based alloys, titanium and alloyed steels.
SMS group is, under the holding SMS GmbH, a group of companies internationally active in plant construction and mechanical engineering for the steel and nonferrous metals industry.
