SMS Meer to Supply CRS Straightener for Peiner Träger Section Mill
05/16/2007 - Peiner Träger, a member of the Salzgitter Group, places an order with SMS Meer for a straightener with CRS technology for its medium section mill.
Peiner Träger GmbH, a member of the Salzgitter Group, has placed an order with SMS Meer for the supply of a straightener with CRS® technology for its medium section mill.
SMS Meer will supply the patented CRS roller straightener with eleven individually driven straightening rollers supported by bearings on both sides. The straightening rollers are adjusted hydraulically in the vertical and axial directions. Pivotable straightening shafts will enable the straightening of special sections. Straightening rollers can be automatically changed within 20 minutes using a changing manipulator. The straightener will also be equipped with a straightening model for optimal setting of the machine with respect to straightness and residual stresses.
With the new straightener, Peiner Träger will be enabled to expand its product range and to straighten special sections. The straightener will be designed to process the facility’s standard product mix of sections up to HE 260, IPE 450 and U/UPE 400 at straightening speeds up to a maximum of 10 meters/second.
SMS Meer will supply the complete installation, including engineering, mechanical and electrical equipment, automation system and hydraulic equipment, and will also carry out erection and commissioning. Peiner Träger is the sixth operator to install CRS technology (introduced in 2001) for producing sections with close tolerances, good surface finishes, high levels of straightness and low residual stresses.
Commissioning is scheduled for the summer 2008.
