According to a press release, the new system will replace the older CARTA® system, replacing key software and hardware to improve the overall system performance. Technological advancements include advanced crop end control, wall thickness control functions, enhanced yield, wall thickness performance, and replacing discontinued hardware and software components. It will also allow for better access to the CARTA system through options such as a PC, tablet, etc.

SMS group said some key components of the CARTAneo SRM system include real-time system support, remote maintenance and troubleshooting, updates, and customizations. The upgrade will also include installation of planning and process data onto a virtual server supported by SMS group’s proprietary X-Pact® system.

They estimate the new system will enhance efficiency, improve product quality and ensure long-term reliability. Additionally, the system will reduce material waste while improving wall thickness consistency and enhancing production efficiency.

The companies said this collaboration continues the decades-long partnership between them and marks the fourth generation of CARTA® SRM technology provided by SMS group to BENTELER.

BENTELER estimates the upgrade will be completed by the third quarter of 2025.
