SMS group Tapped to Upgrade Spanish ERW Line
06/28/2023 - The equipment supplier has been contracted to modernize the forming section for Tuflesa electric resistance welding (ERW) line in Spain, SMS group has announced.
According to SMS group, the project is intended to improve the reliability of square and round tube production for certain areas of Tuflesa’s product range, where their main application will be in the solar energy market.
The RD 220 ERW line at Tuflesa was commissioned in 1997. SMS group developed a custom modernization concept consisting of new forming and welding equipment. The new equipment will enable round tube production up to 240 mm in diameter.
Commissioning is anticipated for August 2024.
