According to SMS group, the high-performance mill can roll 4.1 million metric tons annually. It is capable of producing strip in widths of up 1,900 mm and in thicknesses ranging from 1.2 mm to 25.4 mm. 

Its product mix includes low-alloyed carbon steels, high-strength automotive grades, weathering-resistant structural steel, pipe grades, boiler and pressure vessel grades, shipbuilding steel, and steel for heavy structures in bridge building.

The mill consists of a slab sizing press sitting just before the 2-stand roughing mill, a 7-stand finishing mill with hydraulic screwdown and bending systems, a laminar cooling section, and three downcoilers.

SMS group said the project enjoyed a smooth commissioning, even with COVID-19 restrictions in place, due to excellent cooperation among those involved. SMS group said commissioning was so efficient that the steelmaker has already issued the final acceptance certificate.
