In a statement, SMS said the order includes a 120-ton AC electric arc furnace, a ladle furnace, an offgas cleaning plant and a 6-strand billet caster. The meltshop will have an annual capacity of 1.2 million metric tons and will produce 130 mm, 160 mm and 180 mm billets.

In addition to the equipment, SMS is supplying the basic and detail engineering and the electrical and automation systems. It is also overseeing installation and commissioning.

Commissioning is scheduled for early 2020.
